NHS Blackpool’s Sexual Health Services is launching new Saturday clinic sessions in the town from the 10th of April.

The new Saturday Genito-Urinary Medicine (GUM) clinic sessions offer screening and treatment for all Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), as well as free and confidential advice on guarding against STIs. An appointment is required to attend these sessions, which will be held between 10.15 am and 1.00 pm in the Sexual Health Services Department at Whitegate Health Centre on Whitegate Drive.

Sexual Health Services are also launching a new session time for their Saturday Contraceptive Clinic, which also takes place at Whitegate Health Centre.

The Contraceptive clinic sessions will now run from 10.15 am to 1.00 pm and offer a wide range of contraceptive methods, including contraceptive pills, contraceptive injection (Depo-Provera), and Implanon insertion and removals. Clinic attendees will also be able to access emergency contraception, condoms and cervical screening as required, and can receive free and confidential advice on the most suitable methods of contraception for them.

Jason Flannigan, Clinical Manager for NHS Blackpool Sexual Health Services, said:

“These new Saturday clinic sessions have been set up to make sexual health services in Blackpool more easily accessible to those who need them.

“Sexual Health Services already offers a wide range of clinic services and times, including evenings, and also hold community contraceptive clinics throughout Blackpool and the Fylde. We hope that these new clinic sessions will allow even more people in Blackpool to receive free and confidential sexual health advice and information at a time that suits them.”

Anyone wishing to make an appointment for these or any other clinic sessions, including Implant Clinics and Blood Borne Virus Team Clinics, can contact Sexual Health Services by calling
